Fair use rationale for Image:Vheruption.ogg

[edit]

Image:Vheruption.ogg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Guitar World

[edit]

The article mentions that the song is featured in "a recent Guitar World poll", and links to this. But that's not Guitar World's website; and the opening text seems oddly vague. Which issue of Guitar World magazine did this poll come from, and is it available online? The list is widely reprinted all over the internet, but the original source seems to have been lost. Is it just made up? -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 20:24, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox type parameter

[edit]

Redrkr: Hello, I see you changed the infobox |type= from single to song. The practice for B-sides is to use "single", such as in this current GAN. However, Template:Infobox song#type advises "If an album track was later released as a single, use the most notable or best known". I was unaware that "Eruption" was released as a single B-side and thought it was just an album track. Maybe the infobox should use |type=Instrumental (technically it's not a "song" because it lacks lyrics) and leave the mention of the B-side release for the main body. —Ojorojo (talk) 16:19, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ojorojo: I was under the impression that B-sides that had their own chart listing would be labelled "singles" but otherwise "songs". Example. I was also unaware that "songs" must have lyrics, but I see where Wiki is going with that in their definitions. So, if "Eruption" is moved back to "single" or "instrumental" or even "composition" like some Miles Davis entries - I am good with any type. Redrkr (talk) 18:28, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, used instrumental, since that is how it's usually described. I added a section heading and removed the unsourced somewhat off-topic sentence about Hackett. —Ojorojo (talk) 13:12, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Add A Fact: "Eddie Van Halen's tapping technique secret"

[edit]

I found a fact that might belong in this article. See the quote below

EVH would also show Dweezil the secret to his tapping technique: Eddie would flick his tapping finger upwards, instead of in the downward motion that most players prefer.

The fact comes from the following source:

https://www.guitarworld.com/news/dweezil-zappa-on-his-first-meeting-with-eddie-van-halen

Here is a wikitext snippet to use as a reference:

 {{Cite web |title=“Out of nowhere the phone rings and there’s a guy saying, ‘It's Edward Van Halen.’ 15 minutes later, he’s at the house with a guitar”: Dweezil Zappa on the first time he met Eddie Van Halen – after the guitar great unexpectedly called him |url=https://www.guitarworld.com/news/dweezil-zappa-on-his-first-meeting-with-eddie-van-halen |website=guitarworld |date=2024-09-26 |access-date=2024-09-30 |language=en |first=Phil Weller |last=published |quote=EVH would also show Dweezil the secret to his tapping technique: Eddie would flick his tapping finger upwards, instead of in the downward motion that most players prefer.}}
