Suggestion

If you get bored of the death penalty stuff you might want to make a list of companies that use or have used child labor or sweatshops. —Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason 20:50, 2005 Apr 15 (UTC)

Capital punishment in New Zealand

Thanks for your comment on the Capital punishment in New Zealand article. I've added a few references I've got recorded, and I'll try to add the others once I've gone back to the library to write them down. (I'm not very good with recording my sources, unfortunately, so the one's I've added are just the ones I happened to note). -- Vardion 10:17, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Congratulations on this article winning the March 2005 International writing contest. You've put an impressive amount of work into it.-gadfium 00:47, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Thanks. Evil MonkeyHello

I was bored doing my essay on 1 and 10 solar mass stars so I clicked on a random username - yours - and I was horrified to see you're doing a BSc in Astronomy too... it must be a sign that I should keep working :-( --Sp82 14:47, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Sorry about the Saturn V disamb/move changes. Last thing I want to do is p*** off a bunch of rocket scientists! I should have posted in the discussion area before moving on that. Lesson learned. I had been creating entries for some of the other Saturn moons and this was the first case where the designation name was already in use. Was just going for some consistency but I agree with your comment about there being little chance for confusion in this case. -fjTalk 20:50, Apr 28, 2005 (UTC)

Saturn V

Hey, nice job on the Saturn V research. --Doradus 04:18, Apr 30, 2005 (UTC)

Hi Evil Monkey - thanks for starting the article, and updating the Astronomy portal accordingly. The references I got the extra info from are available online, via the Astrophysics Data Service [1] - it contains astronomical and geophysical research papers from the 1800s up to right now. You can get information about pretty much any astronomical topic from it, and for the purposes of Wikipedia, generally most of the important info is contained in the paper's abstract, reducing the need to wade through pages of dense technical writing and jargon :) Worldtraveller 08:31, 12 May 2005 (UTC)

Did you know?

Uni

Hey, since you go to Uni in NZ, i am just wandering if you know know much about Capping stunts, and maybe you could expand on the article. Thank you.Mexaguil 08:33, 13 May 2005 (UTC)

Ali al-Tamimi

I saw you created a page on Ali al-Tamimi. I was wondering where you got the information from because I have been unsuccesful in finding any good source. Even when I found the CIIE and Dar al-Arqam sites, they dont seem to mention him at all. freestylefrappe 02:39, May 15, 2005 (UTC)

lethal injection date

I would suggest you take a look at the History Channel's website for the proper year to the first injection.

In accordance with your excellent research on the subject (great job!) I corrected the article text. Demi T/C 05:44, 2005 May 19 (UTC)

Just wanted to say thanks for your suggested URL to place in my browser's home page slot. It loads a new random page every time the browser (Firefox) starts.

Adminship?

Hello there, Evil Monkey. I just checked the list and saw that you weren't an admin. I would say you are more than qualified and would sail through an RfA, so if you'd like to be nominated I'd be happy to do the honours. Let me know what you think. Cheers. — Trilobite (Talk) 00:59, 21 May 2005 (UTC)

Hmmm, I've said that I'm happy as a plebe, but it would be nice to be able to revert pages without having to worry about editing and old revision. Sure. Why not. Evil MonkeyHello 01:07, May 21, 2005 (UTC)
Great, well I have hacked together a few lines for the nomination at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Evil Monkey, so all that remains for you to do is to accept the nomination. Thanks and good luck. — Trilobite (Talk) 01:50, 21 May 2005 (UTC)
Thanks. 01:53, May 21, 2005 (UTC)
Oops! I just saw on your RfA a note from gadfium that you turned down a nomination recently. Had I known, I wouldn't have pestered you with a second one so soon. Sorry about that, but anyway, you accepted, so I suppose it's not a problem. — Trilobite (Talk) 05:31, 21 May 2005 (UTC)
I asked him on IRC, so there was no record that you could have seen.-gadfium 06:01, 21 May 2005 (UTC)
I just wasn't ready a week ago - I've decided that being an admin is no big deal, so I should join the cabal. Evil MonkeyHello 06:07, May 21, 2005 (UTC)

Current events in ANZ

Hi Evil Monkey. I see that you are very active in updating Current events in Australia and New Zealand, and for this, I thank you. I just wanted to let you know about the New Zealand Wikiportal, in case you might have interest in participating. The news briefs (about New Zealand) that you have been contributing are also used in the "In The News" section, and I invite you to help keep this section updated in particular, if you feel so inclined. Thanks again, --Cyberjunkie 08:28, 21 May 2005 (UTC)

Lethal Injection

Note that Andrew made the entry in parenthesis that sometimes the proper date for the first lethal injection is sometimes regarded as 1983. However until your sources came along, my own have never said 1982. One thing, I was born on the same day the guy was executed, so I know what year it really happened. Please do not send me any more messages.

Are you 24.54.208.177

This anon voted oppose on my RFA and signed as you. I was just wondering if it was you or someone pretending to be you. Evil MonkeyHello 00:13, May 23, 2005 (UTC)

The latter. 24.54.208.177 00:17, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

Death penalty map

Hi, I find your colouring of that world map helpful. According to solid informations of Amnesty International.org, however, Russia has abolished the death penalty in peacetimes since 1997. It should be marked in Green, then, not Orange. We need the change for the German article soon cause it´s on the list for excellency. And I don´t know how to change the colours on Commons myself - can´t even find the edit function for it, sorry...thankyou, Jesusfreund 07:34, 26 May 2005 (UTC)

Russia has not legally abolished the death penalty even in peacetime. In this news article from today:
"In his report Gil-Robles (Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe) refers to death penalty as a serious deficiency in Russian legislation, although moratorium has been imposed on the measure."[2]
"On 16 April 1997 Russian signed Protocol 6 to the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, concerning the abolition of the death penalty. It has still not ratified it." (from the actual report by the HRC [3]
There is only a moratorium on the death penalty. Evil MonkeyHello 07:42, May 26, 2005 (UTC)
Thanks! Then that was more my wishful thinking; if they signed European human rights convention, I concluded they abolished it already. Jesusfreund 18:01, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Death penalty map: abolitionnist in practice

Hello,

I have a question about the rule used to qualify a country of abolitionnist in practice. I have a separate sources which lists different countries under this category. They used the criterion: country who do not have proceeded to an execution for ten years.

What is the criterion used on that map?

Nice map, btw. Jyp 12:05, 29 May 2005 (UTC)

Man, I wince looking at some of those pics on your nudity page. No doubt it's true 20:05, 30 May 2005 (UTC)

New Zealand Map Modifcations

The map modifications are for use on Wikipedia. The previous map left out major towns and citys in the South Island area. I modified it with Arial font. So whatever licence is applicable. --Matt von Furrie 01:01, 31 May 2005 (UTC)

Congrats

Congrats on the adminship, I told you they'd support you. Let me know if you can think of any edits to Convention on Psychotropic Substances to bring it up to featured article status. Thanks, Pravoka 02:34, 31 May 2005 (UTC)

Non-white

Hi Wikipedian! Congrats on your recent elevation. I noticed your reversion of Non-white earlier. Thanks for that. However, I'm not sure what to do about that page and I'm seeking advice from an admin. The one I asked hasn't answered as yet, perhaps you can assist? Please see the article talk page for explanation. Ta. Naturenet 09:32, 31 May 2005 (UTC)

Vcodec revert

Why did you revert my contribution to the Vcodec topic? I did my very best to add some useful information while removing useless information and you just reverted it back. That's not a very nice thing to do, because the information I supplied was based on my own researching into this vcodec trojan. So perhaps you could revert things back again once more? --195.241.118.--- 09:56, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your quick answer. I know Wikipedia sometimes is plagued by people just vandalizing things, so I understand your initial reaction :). Regards, --195.241.118.--- 10:07, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

What exactly do you mean by saying "you will be blocked"?

Do you have a power to block all public proxy IP addresses?

...but I can easily change this IP address to another one.
...so what? I still don't get your point...You block another IP, I will change it again. Soon you will block the whole Internet, including yourself?
Thank you. But I've got a strange feeling that you don't understand what I was trying to explain to you...

Please cease explaining this system to the vandal. You're just goading him right now. The vandal is just harassing you, saying, in effect ha ha ha you can't punish me. Let the issue be, and continue to block vigourously. Good luck, →Iñgōlemo← talk 07:59, 2005 Jun 2 (UTC)

Spammers

Hi Not-so-Evil Monkey,

Nice work on catching the poster-art-gallery spammer so quickly. I've seen them around posting from other IPs before. Thought you might like to know that there is a handy template at {{spam}} which is good for their talk pages in cases like this. -- Solipsist 10:49, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

No, old evil one, im just getting started!

Ill continue to vandalize the article on Bush. The man deserves all of it. Ban me today and ill be back tomorrow, ban me forever, and ill be back on another computer. Justr stop me. By the way, my trademark is the picture of Jar Jar Binks, which also represents George W. Bush's true image, and his intellect.

Even though Bush's policies are absurd, he is an intelligent individual. JarlaxleArtemis 02:44, Jun 18, 2005 (UTC)

Pic of the day

Thanks for your help again. I've now protected the Template:Pic of the day page. -- Solipsist 10:41, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

No problem. I've been blocking each new ip as well. Been doing it to a couple of other templates. Evil MonkeyHello 10:43, Jun 17, 2005 (UTC)
Ah, I see now it is a coordinated multi-ip attack. Ho-hum. -- Solipsist 10:46, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Thanks ever so much for your help. This all stems from a single user I blocked last night because he kept tried to move pages using cut and paste rather than the page move facility, and got very upset when I asked him not to. And he just doesn't listen to anyone but himself. It's extremely frustrating. -- Francs2000 | Talk [[]] 11:11, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Invercargill

Hi there, thanks for your message

I deleted it off Invercargill now because I didn't know how to make it look right in the article - yes I took it myself and I can take more pictures to put on the article if you want - but I don't really know how to make them blend in - and I don't really understand all the stuff about image tags and stuff - so thanks

That looks great

That looks great, I will get my camera out and replace that with a nicer more interesting image of invercargill, and I will put those tags on. Thanks heaps!

Hi there Evil Monkey. I almost regret nominating you for adminship now with all the vandalism your userpage seems to have been getting! I'm sure no one would object if you protected it while you were battling the vandals. Anyway, I thought I'd drop you a note to point out this interesting thing I came across, which shows you are now feared by trolls and vandals the world over as the guardian of Wikipedia's integrity. — Trilobite (Talk) 17:58, 18 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I blocked an anon then got an email from the guy who posted that message to say it was his friend who was using his computer. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and unblocked him. As for user:Big al kicks ass he sent me an email about "anoying person editing my page". That diff explains alot. Thanks. Evil MonkeyHello 21:28, Jun 18, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks a bunch for reverting my talk page. I have no reason why the vandal keeps on targeting me, but I guess you blocked him. I can try to have my page locked again, but I had it locked for nearly two weeks now. Zscout370 (Sound Off) 02:37, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Also, I reverted the page myself to the last version I did, so you have something to go by. Also, I would like to present you a gift. Enjoy. Zscout370 (Sound Off) 02:40, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)
No problem. And thanks for the barnstar. Evil MonkeyHello 02:41, Jun 19, 2005 (UTC)

Yes, this is Mbw15 I'm not vandalizing the episode list page I was just creating a episode list page for Yu-Gi-Oh is that doing any warm??

Now listen here, old evil one!

What I put it not nonsense, and certainly is not vandalism, you moron! I am sinply telling the truth about that horrible man. By the way, you banned me last night, and the day before. You better stop this banning of me. I warn you, I will continue to vandalize this page, every day! I will, of course be banned, but will return on my fellow vandals' computers.
